\nThe National Film Archive of Iceland emphasises the importance of legal deposits for preserving cultural heritage.\n<\/div>
\nLegal deposits, according to Act No. 20\/2002 on mandatory submissions to archives, require filmmakers to submit copies of their films to the archive. This ensures that the films are preserved for future generations, made accessible for research, and contributes to the overall documentation of a nation\u2019s film history. The obligation to submit Icelandic films to the archive rests with their producer.\n<\/div>

\nWhat should be submitted?\n<\/h3>
\nAll films that have been released for screening in theaters, on television, on disks, or online must be delivered to the National Film Archive of Iceland for preservation as soon as possible after production is completed.

\nSubmission of supplementary material\n<\/h3>
\nSignificant technical changes have occurred since the enactment of the mandatory submission laws in 2002, and the following are guidelines for submissions to the National Film Archive of Iceland.

The material can be delivered on hard drives, which can be retrieved after copying if requested. It is also possible to send the film material over the internet and then it is best to use this here link: https:\/\/kvikmyndasafn-slands.filemail.com\/

The producer is solely responsible for delivery of the film to the National Film Archive.\n<\/div>
